Good Knight C64 Review

Good Knight

Good Knight by Psytronik and Icon64 is a merry little platform game where you must rescue the princess from the evil dragon. In order to do this you must travail across the top of a castle avoiding various pointy objects and pitfalls as well as jumping on moving platforms.

The game starts with your Knights climbing the ladder onto the ramparts and eases you in gently with the first couple of screens. You must make it to the other side of the screen and jump onto the flagpole where up the game scrolls to the next screen along.

The fire button here will make your character jump and left and right moves him.

A little map at the bottom signifies your progress and also the number of lives you have left (shown by a helmet). For every screen you complete, you get a little flag at the bottom also, but these disappear if you lose your life. Occasionally, the screens appear in a slightly different order and you can get a “skill bonus”.

Audio wise, there is a dinky little chip tune with some medieval lute vibes but no sound effects.

Again, this is rather good and I often found myself saying “just one more go”. Like most new games, you can obtain a copy from itch.io. In this case it is $3.99 which works out at about £3. Well worth it.
